On the way to wellbeing

Moving into the colder months in an environment where costs are rising and the world is feeling a bit precarious, it’s important to continue to look after your wellbeing and build supportive networks that foster resilience in yourself and in the wider community.
Risingholme are offering a range of courses in 2025 that can help you foster wellbeing in many different areas in your life.

Financial wellbeing

In a high cost-of-living environment, managing your finances effectively will help you to reduce stress and achieve financial security. Budgeting Tips is a short three-week course where you will work alongside wealth coach Stacey Adams to dive into your money goals, find strategies to manage debt and reduce your expenses so you can take away a plan that you can put in place for your finances straight away.

Financial wellbeing also comes from finding job security and managing your finances as you move through different stages throughout your career. For those looking to re-enter the workforce pivot into a new area, Risingholme’s Work Readiness for Women should be the first point of call. The course is a fantastic way to kick-start your journey into a new career pathway and covers goal setting, identifying your skills, CV and cover letters, interview strategies, and information on the hidden job market so you can confidently land your next role.

Moving out of the workforce and into retirement is also a significant change that can impact on your financial and overall wellbeing. Our new workshop, Transitioning from Work to Retirement, will enable you to plan ahead for a smoother transition and embrace all that this next phase of your life offers. This two week workshop led by Tutor Robyn Johnson (PhD, B.Ed., PGDipCouns., MHealSc (Hons)). Robyn is a Key Consultant at Transition Navigators—a business she founded because she recognised that many older people and their families needed help navigating the changes to their living arrangements.

Personal wellbeing

Cultivating personal wellbeing comes from connecting with your mind and body. This can take the form of gentle exercise such as Yoga allowing you to move at your own pace in a way that feels safe and mindful. Finding the time to connect with yourself is also important, and Risinghome’s Me Time for Women and Self Hypnosis for Relaxation and Results workshops can help you carve out some time to look inwards and gain clarity in a world that’s increasingly busy and places demands on our attention.

Emotional wellbeing

Managing your emotions and building resilience and positive habits can help you keep calm and centred. In line with this, Risingholme is offering a Grasping Anxiety Workshop in term 3 designed to help those with generalised anxiety to understand what they are doing, why they are doing it and how they can adapt to break through their anxiety cycle. Similarly in Mindfulness for Health you will explore various approaches to pain and/or stress-management through mindfulness-meditation, with guided meditation-relaxation practices, and gentle movement (based on yoga, T’ai Chi and Qigong).

Social wellbeing

For cultivating your social wellbeing, Risingholme is running a newly-developed one-day workshop Relatable Relationships. You will develop skills to communicate better, grow relationships and understand your needs and the needs of those important to you—including partners, friends, family, and co-workers.

Intellectual wellbeing

Intellectual wellbeing is about nurturing your mind, sparking curiosity, and engaging in hobbies and activities that enhance lifelong learning. All of Risingholme’s courses, irrespective of subject, help foster your intellectual wellbeing by developing new skills, extending your already existing knowledge, and by encouraging face-to-face social connections that make learning feel effortless, connected, and fun! So whether you want to hone in on a creative practice, learn a new language, or do something hands-on and learn by getting stuck into a practical project, Risingholme’s course offerings have you covered.

All the different aspects of wellbeing are connected, and tending to each of them can take the form of simple actions every day. Small actions that, over time, contribute to an overall sense of fulfilment and happiness.
