Risingholme’s Director, Lynda Megson, has been leading the charge saying “the end of the year is always our busiest period in the office as we work to build the new programme. Our aim is to strike a good balance between courses that are familiar favourites, but also make room for new ones to encourage people to try learning something new”.

Budgeting Tips
The current cost of living crisis has contributed to many people feeling stressed and overwhelmed about their finances. Guided by tutor and wealth coach, Stacey Adams, you’ll dive into your money goals, strategies to manage debt and reduce your expenses so you can take away a plan that you can put in place for your finances straight away

Printmaking for Beginners Workshop
Learn how to make your own stamps and stamp pads with recycled materials, try monotype printing and more! With an emphasis on experimentation and fun, this course will be a friendly introduction to printmaking that will celebrate both the making and sharing of prints without needing lots of specialist equipment.

The Art of Smocking
This beautiful fabric manipulation technique is having a recent resurgence in popularity with its vintage nostalgia flair featuring in everything from babies’ clothes, floaty summer dresses, and home décor like cushions. Over this 8-week course you will practice the basic smocking stitches and have completed a reference sampler. You will also use these techniques to make a decoration or item of clothing.

Introduction to GarageBand for Mac
For those interested in podcasting and sound editing, this course is for you! Learn to put audio and sound effects on to a video clip, record and edit yourself or a friend singing or playing an instrument and create a multi-track recording. You’ll also get the chance to use a MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) keyboard to record multiple tracks and sounds and Create a song using GarageBand’s audio loops and drummer sounds.

Plaster Mould Making 101 Workshop
Over the course of this 2-week workshop you will learn to make a model for a mould using sculpture construction methods and make moulds using readymade objects. Mould making enables you to experiment with creating different forms that you can use time and time again.

Creative Visual Story Workshop
Have you got a secret tale to tell? A poem you’ve wanted to expand on and colour in? Do you have delicious recipes that need illustrations? Or a short story of a family dog, cat & their calamities? This workshop will explore how to translate your narrative, story, or words into hand drawn pictures the French ‘aux trois crayon’ technique to bring your ideas to life.
