Marina Steinke

Marina Steinke Risingholme

Marina is an enthusiastic home gardener and, over the past 30 years, has learned to make the bounty from her spray free garden last all year. Her emphasis is on using what she has in many different ways to keep food interesting. She contributed an article about ‘Preserving by Dehydration’ to the book ‘A fresh take on Preserves’, published in March 2013 as part of the LifestyleBlock Self Sufficiency Series. She is also known for her articles about keeping poultry.

Marina also trained as a secondary school teacher for mathematics and physics and worked as a software developer for 10 years, but her passion is self-sufficiency. She and her family have a smallholding with a home orchard, a large vegetable garden, chickens, sheep and alpacas.

At Risingholme, Marina offers a hands-on preserving course where she teaches how to make the most of a good fruit and vegetable harvest. She has also written a book about keeping poultry. Details can be found on her website www.poultryknowhow.com
