Learners will take part in this intermediate course designed to go beyond a bowl, tumbler, and cup. The projects will be designed so you can learn to manipulate, design, and construct different vessels on the wheel. There will be a demonstration on the last day to help segue into the next term. It is expected you will make 2-3 pieces within the 4 week course. Building skills and techniques is the focus not on producing a lot of works.
The course fee includes costs of materials (clay, slip, glaze, and firing) for items made per the course curriculum (maximums apply).

Della Goodinson, your tutor, will teach you a unique method of beginner wheel throwing which was developed in 2021 at Risingholme Community Centre. It combines rote learning with cognitive thinking and syncs mind, body, hand tools, posture, and wheel speed to create a flow on the wheel. Learners will begin to rote learn the minute Della starts demonstrating and will be asked to participate. Learners will gain insight to their vessels with whiteboard drawings and gain more understanding of the process with handouts to reflect on their wheel throwing steps.
Enrolment into a course is based on first come, first served.
