Carla Watson is a lover of all things creative and has pursued her passion for textile printing over the past 20 years. After graduation from CPIT with a Bachelor of Design she set up her business ‘Imprint’ which specialised in hand printed hosiery products which were sold throughout NZ. Tutoring has always been part of her creative outlets with over 16 years’ experience teaching adults and children how to print onto fabric. Carla teaches 1 day a week at Ara to the design degree students plus many hours teaching all sorts of creative classes through her studio to kids and adults.
“I believe I was put on this earth for many reasons, but a big one is to help bring colour and creativity to the world around me.”
Carla teaches a variety of fabric printing classes through Risingholme at her Christchurch studio and has a fun, friendly approach to teaching that draws out creativity in her students. She teaches techniques and skills that can easily be adapted to fabric print at home also helping those who wish to continue with fabric printing by offering open studio sessions, providing further information and supplies to her students.
“My hope is that Imprint Studio is a safe place where students creativity can be unlocked and find wings to fly, where students are surprised by the professional outcome of their prints and can’t believe they made it themselves.”
