Upskill, create, and learn something new in 2026 at Risingholme.
Next year’s course programme is set to launch on 1 December and is filled with courses and workshops that are designed to inspire, challenge, and help you connect with opportunities for lifelong learning.
With more than 300 courses delivered to over 3,000 learners each year, planning Risingholme’s programme is no small feat. Behind the scenes, it’s a carefully orchestrated process that involves a lot of co-ordination between tutors, venues, and resourcing to ensure the courses are ready for enrolment on launch day.
Director Lynda Megson says that “while many organisations wind down for the year, this is the time when we are at our busiest in the office. Developing the programme is a complex and team-wide effort that begins months in advance, but it’s very satisfying when it all comes together. We are pleased with the suite of courses and workshops we can offer to our learners in the new year”.
So what can you expect from the programme?
Building on a long history of delivering interesting, valuable, and accessible courses for over 80 years, Risingholme’s 2026 programme brings back familiar favourites like pottery courses, Te Reo Māori, Sewing, Woodworking, and Creative Art among others.
“We are also pleased to launch a handful of new courses to complement the staples in the programme” says Lynda. “In the languages space, we are offering a Japanese Level 1 course perfect for those looking to learn the basics. With Japan becoming a more popular tourist destination in recent years, it’s no surprise that there is a need out there for people who want to prepare for their travels. Learning simple words and phrases will not only smooth but enhance their experience while there”.
Other highlights include new computing courses which is a welcome addition to the career and digital skills section, and a nature journalling course that encourages learners to step away from screens and immerse themselves in the surrounding nature, mindfully observing the details of the natural world.
“There’s certainly lots to look forward to in 2026, and we are continually adding to the programme throughout the year, so there’s more to come from Risingholme yet. We’re looking forward to welcoming learners new and returning and helping them on their learning journey”.
