Do you have an item of clothing in your wardrobe that you love, that fits you like a glove, and that you’d like to recreate? This is the workshop that will show you how to create a sewing pattern from your favourite garment.
During this one-day workshop you will be guided through the pattern making process from start to finish and will leave with a basic sewing pattern ready for cutting and sewing at home. The workshop covers key pattern making principles such as measuring, and calculating, and will familiarise you with various pattern making terminology.
For beginner pattern makers, it’s suggested your chosen garment is a basic shape such as a t-shirt, tunic, or simple dress (avoid items with darts, gathers, and pleats). Those with some pattern making experience are also welcome to bring along trousers as their garment to copy.
Block paper and some pattern making tools will be provided by the tutor, but learners will also need to supply some of their own equipment (full material list provided on the course information sheet).
