Julie Nielson

Julie Nielson is a Tutor of NZ Sign Language and has been teaching at Risingholme for the last few years.

Julie is Deaf, she is fun, and has a friendly personality, she is also a fantastic lip reader so her learners can easily communicate with her. She has two sons (hearing), and a partner who is Deaf also. Keeping in line with her community-focused career, Julie works as a support carer for Florence Nightingale. She really enjoys helping people with disabilities as well as meeting with other people.

When Julie is not working, she enjoys going to the gym and walking with her dog Holly, a beautiful Jack Russell with a rough coat. Being a ‘people-person’, Julie enjoys catching up with her friends for a cuppa and loves spending time with her family. When the weather is nice, Julie loves getting into the garden at her home, going on drives, and is an avid reader.
