Janice Roberts

I am Janice Roberts. I was born in the Philippines and moved to New Zealand in 2010, where I became actively involved in the Deaf Community. I am a New Zealand citizen with dual citizenship. I am Deaf and fluent in Filipino Sign Language, American Sign Language, International Sign Language, and New Zealand Sign Language. I am also currently learning Māori.

I love adventure and travelling, exploring food, culture, language, and new experiences in vibrant communities.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Deaf Studies – Entrepreneurship in 2004 in the Philippines, and later graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2022 with a qualification in Deaf Studies and as a New Zealand Sign Language Tutor.

My hobbies include cooking, crafts (jewellery and sewing), photography, computer design, and video editing.

I also have experience supporting communication by translating for Deaf individuals who do not know sign language, creating and using codes, and adapting across different languages in various countries. Looking forward to seeing you in one of my courses.
