Entry to workshop - minimum skill level, you must have at least attended one 4 week throwing course or one of our beginners throwing weekend workshops prior to enrolling in this workshop.
This workshop will give you time to develop your skills in throwing.
Della will give you opportunities to extend yourself in throwing while being shown how to make lids, spouts and build composite pots like teapots. You can choose what you make. If you are fairly new to wheel throwing you may just hone your skills and make some bowls, vases or mugs or you may want to have a play and extend yourself in this mixed ability workshop. Della will encourage you to draw what you want to throw and you may want to research and plan the design before you attend.
You will pick your 5 best pieces to glaze in two weeks time on a Sunday between 4pm - 6pm and then collect your work a week later at an organized time.
This course consists of one weekend Saturday and Sunday 10 - 4 pm and the following fortnights Sunday 4 - 6 pm.
The course fee includes all of the clay, glazes and firing for items as per course curriculum. There will be a few items/tools that will need to be purchased, you will find this on the information sheet provided by the office staff.

Della Goodinson, your tutor, will teach you a unique method of beginner wheel throwing which was developed in 2021 at Risingholme Community Centre. It combines rote learning with cognitive thinking and syncs mind, body, hand tools, posture, and wheel speed to create a flow on the wheel. Learners will begin to rote learn the minute Della starts demonstrating and will be asked to participate. Learners will gain insight to their vessels with whiteboard drawings and gain more understanding of the process with handouts to reflect on their wheel throwing steps.
Enrolment into a course is based on first come, first served.
