Russian Level 1 Continuing Short Course

In this short course learn to speak and understand some basic Russian – the first steps

What can I expect to learn?  How to greet and say good-bye, both formally and informally how to both introduce and give information about yourself, how to introduce your family and friends, and ask for information about someone else.
Proposed course outline:
Session 1: Introductions. Expressing request, giving and receiving
Session 2: Asking someone’s name, family members names
Session 3: Describing what you have. Construction: “I have…”
Session 4: Talking about your family. Introducing your family.

What do I need to know before my course starts?  Familiarity with the Russian alphabet is recommended.

What do I need to have?  A device that can be used to participate in a Zoom meeting.  Pen/pencil, paper/notebook to take notes.

What will be provided? The tutor will email the Zoom invite link with meeting ID and password plus any files needed prior to each session starting, please review these.

How will each Zoom session run?  This short course will run for 6 hours total which will be made up of 1 x 90 min Zoom session each week.  The weekly sessions are broken up into 2 x 40 mins sessions with a 5-10 min break between.  

The aim of this short course is to create a safe space for learners while you discover a new language.

What you need to know about Zoom:
This session will be run through Zoom.  
Do I need my own Zoom account?  NO, you do not need to have your own Zoom account to participate, an invite with a link, meeting ID and password will be emailed to you, by the tutor, at least 2 hours before each session is due to start. 
Please check your inbox and spam folders for this email and click on the link at least 30min prior to your session starting to make sure you can follow the process to 'JOIN A MEETING' and are ready to go on time to avoid missing out on the start of your first session.

 No classes on public holidays.

All courses need a minimum number to go ahead. If your course does not have enough enrolments, we regret that we will have to cancel and will let you know either by email or text. Please check your emails regularly. Courses are usually confirmed or cancelled 2-3 working days prior to the scheduled start date.

NB: Only a paid enrolment secures a place in a class.

In most cases classes will be taught by the tutor named in the brochure/website on the dates stated. We make every effort to make our programme as accurate as possible at the time of printing. We do, however, reserve the right to make any changes that may be necessary. This includes changes to day, time, venue and tutor.

 

Refund Policy

Cancellation by us

We may, regretfully, have to cancel courses if we do not receive enough enrolments, in which case you will get a full refund.
We may choose to close a course if there is a high level of non-attendance or withdrawals, in which case a proportional refund may be made.

Cancellation due to extreme weather or Tutor illness

Wherever possible, we will offer replacement or extended sessions to make up for sessions cancelled due to extreme weather, tutor illness or other unforeseen reason.

Cancellation by the learner

If you need to withdraw from a course and you inform us in writing, at least a week before the course is due to start, you will be eligible for a refund minus a $20 administration charge.

If you withdraw from a course at any other time, you will not be eligible for a refund. No refunds are given after commencement of a course to ensure course viability.
