Pottery Beginners Monday 5.20 pm

Pottery Beginners Monday 5.20 pm

This class was formally known as Pottery Core Skills.

Students will take part in this 8 week Beginners course designed with fixed projects to explore the main ways of making and decorating in ceramics.  During this course students will receive a good basic technical grounding in ceramic practices and discover how to use their own design inspirations using the tools and materials provided.  Each term will have different and diverse projects planned.

Sessions will include health and safety including studio best practice, basics on kiln firing, recycling your clay, colour and glaze, decorating and developing your own unique style.

Over the year, the projects will vary term to term so that at the end of the year, students will have had the opportunity to explore most shapes and techniques.

It is expected that students will attend 2 – 3 terms of a Beginners/Core Skills courses before moving on to an Intermediate course.

No previous pottery experience needed.

Pottery has many chemicals and materials that are hazardous – so if you are either pregnant or health impaired, you need to let your tutor know so that she can advise you on best practice.

The course fee INCLUDES $45 worth of materials (clay, slip, glaze and firing) for items made as per the course curriculum.

Students need to choose the day of the week they wish to attend e.g. if you enrol in the Monday class, you attend only this class on Mondays for the term.  This does not mean that you attend any other time or day of week.
