Spinning for Beginners
Anne Field is an experienced spinning teacher and the author of “The Ashford Book of Spinning, Spinning Wool Beyond the Basics” and “Learn to Spin with Anne Field”.
This two day workshop is ideal for beginner spinners.
This will be a practical, hands on workshop. By the end of the workshop, students will be able to know the correct breeds of sheep suitable for spinning; how to prepare these fleeces, how to spin, ply and wash a wool yarn and how a spinning wheel works.
Students will be able to spin small skeins of silk and alpaca and know the end uses of different types of yarns. Samples of spun yarns and finished articles for the students to view will be available for discussion. Some spinning wheels will be available but bring your own if you have one. All materials will be provided. Bring your own lunch.
