ESOL and Other Languages

We offer a range of beginners courses as well as courses aimed at those who want to improve their employment opportunities.

Esol Courses are offered at the following levels:

Level 1 (Beginners) Those with little or no English
Level 2 (Elementary) Those who can understand and use simple English in everyday situations.
Level 3 (Intermediate) Those who can usually understand native speakers and can make themselves understood in familiar situations.
Level 4 (Upper Intermediate) Those who can generally speak with confidence and accuracy but need to develop fluency and the use of idiomatic language.

ESOL courses are for citizens/permanent residents of New Zealand and are subsidized by the government.

Other Languages

Languages are offered at the following levels:

Language for Travellers: Designed for those intending to travel or who just want a taste of the language.

Level 1 (Beginners) learning to speak a new language and building a new vocabulary.  Introduction to basic rules of grammar and coming to grips with pronunciation.  For beginners who have absolutely no prior knowledge of the language.

Level 2 (Elementary) For those who have completed Level 1 recently or have equivalent knowledge.  Extend basic vocabulary and begin to build basic sentences.  Construct and compile simple, useful sentences and phrases that will help you both to understand and be understood by others.  Put your new language skills in context i.e. travel, business, communicating with New Zealanders or improving your understanding of another culture.

Level 3 (Intermediate) For those who have done Level 2 or equivalent.  This level assumes confidence in using basic spoken language e.g. greetings.  An opportunity to practice and extend the language skills you have acquired, by conversing and communicating with others at a similar level.

Please note the following:
In most cases classes will be taught by the tutor named in the brochure/website on the dates stated.  We make every effort to make our programme as accurate as possible at the time of printing.  We do, however, reserve the right to make any changes that may be necessary.  This include changes to time, venue and tutor.

Refund Policy
Cancellation by us.
We may regretfully have to cancel courses if we do not get enough enrolments in which case you will get a full refund. We may choose to close a course if there is a high level of non-attendance or withdrawal, in which case a proportional refund may be made.

Cancellation due to extreme weather
Wherever possible, we will offer replacement or extended sessions to make up for sessions cancelled due to extreme weather, tutor illness or other unforeseen reason.

Cancellation by the learner
If you need to withdraw from a course and inform us in writing at least a week before the course is due to start, you will be eligible for a refund minus a $20 administration charge.

If you withdraw from a course at any other time, you will not be eligible for a refund. No refunds are given after commencement of a course to ensure course viability.
