In most cases classes will be taught by the tutor named in the brochure/website on the dates stated. We make every effort to make our programme as accurate as possible at the time of printing. We do, however, reserve the right to make any changes that may be necessary.

Fee $50 (plus $50 to be paid directly to tutor for limestone, materials and use of tools etc)
Have a go at working with limestone with a passionate sculptor and tutor – Julie Clausen. These weekend workshops are for the complete beginner through to those who have a few skills tucked up their sleeves. Students will learn carving skills, techniques, use of tools and how to successfully approach and work your own sculpture. All tools, safety gear, stone and tuition provided in these weekend workshops. Be quick – they’re very popular!
Only 10 participants – numbers strictly limited for safety and comfort.

Location Risingholme
In this mixed ability class we will cover all areas of pottery and ceramic art, from throwing, glazing and decorating to designing, sculpting and firing. An experienced tutor will assist you in developing your own projects with demonstrations, technical support and theoretical background information. Bring (or make) your own mug for morning tea/afternoon tea

ACTION POTTERY – Beach Firing at Birdling’s Flat
Sat 28 Mar (weather dependant; if postponed, 4 April) 7 am – 2 pm
Fee $45 1 wk
Location Risingholme/beach
During usual class time we will create vessels and objects suitable for this very ancient firing technique. We will burnish the objects to achieve a smooth, velvety surface. The firing at the beach, helped only by some metal oxides, seaweed and driftwood will add its unique fiery mark and produce individual masterpieces of art.
Only open to students currently attending Pottery Classes at Risingholme.

MAKE YOUR OWN TEAPOT
Sat 13 and 20 Jun 9 – 1 pm
Fee $45 2 days.
Location Risingholme
In these two Saturday mornings, we will design, throw and assemble our own teapot. We will grasp the basics of and experiment with handles, lids, knobs and spouts. With the help of demonstrations, particular techniques, practical assistance and technical analysis, participants will work on their own teapot. This workshop is limited to 8 participants and participants must have basic throwing skills.

WORKING WITH PAPERCLAY

This workshop will be run by our very own paperclay expert Jane O’Neill. Find out about the special qualities of paperclay. You will be introduced to a wide range of hand building techniques especially suited to paper clay. This is a hands on workshop in paper clay figurative/object making. Small cost for materials

CHRISTMAS GIFTS IN CLAY
Sat 21 and 28 Nov 9 am – 1 pm

Make or paint a lasting and very individual Xmas gift. You can either paint ready made cups, teapots or platters with bright, food safe colours or work with terracotta clay, sculpt and mould the individual gift for your loved ones. Children welcome to be part of this workshop but must be part of an adult team. Materials extra.
