Pottery Inexperienced
This class is suitable for students of all skill levels; however the focus will be on the inexperienced potter.
In the course of the year, we will cover all areas of pottery and ceramic art, from slab work, sculpting and throwing on the wheel to handles, under glaze decoration and simple step by step glazing. We will also look at understanding clays and their qualities and behaviours (e.g. shrinkage) in different stages of the potter process. This will assist us in successfully creating beautiful pieces of pottery.
An experienced tutor will assist you in developing your own projects with demonstrations, technical support and theoretical background information. Bring (or make) your own mug for afternoon tea. No prior experience required.
Associated costs for materials and fire – tutor will discuss options.
